Printing Pages
Too often pages get cut off at the margin so the ends of lines are missing
or pictures are cut off, or blanks appear where words or images should
be. This is pretty frustrating because you can see the words right there
on the screen; they're there, but when you print them out they're gone.
Never fear, we a have a few how to tips and tricks for you to get those
internet pages to print out nice, neat and complete.
- First Click on Print Preview
Before you print out a page, go to your browser menu (usually the file menu)
and click on print preview. This will bring up images of the web pages
as they will appear on a print out. If they look good, all you should have
to do is click the print command, usually also found in the browser menu
file window, and they will print out as shown. Note, however, that once
in a great while the print preview will not be accurate, and the print
out will not match the preview. If this is the case, the following two
tips may be of assistance.
- Look for the Printer Friendly Link
Some pages of our website will have a "printer friendly" or "printable
version" link or the like. Click on this link and you will get a version
of the web page or pages that is optimized for print out. Once you have brought
up this printer friendly version, just click on your print command found
in your internet browser window.
Print in Landscape Instead of Portrait
If the print preview shows pages cut off on the margin, and you don't have access
to printer friendly or PDF versions, you can print the pages out in landscape
instead of portrait format. If you don't know already, landscape prints left
to right across the longest dimension of the page (as in a landscape painting)
and portrait prints out the normal way (as in a portrait painting). When you
print in landscape, you are pretty much guaranteed that nothing will get cut
off at the margins. In most browsers, you go to the file menu, click on 'page
setup', and in the page setup window click check the landscape box before you
do your print out. |
